It wasn't long before I figured out that it needs more than a CPU chip! The first version had one kilobytes (I think they were 2114 4 bit wide chips) of RAM and no ROM. Heck, I never had a programmer to program them. That is what I was building! A hand assembled program entered in binary dip switches enabled a hex keypad. It took seven tries to enter an eprom programmer routine before I had an EPROM to boot from.
