After using hack saws, band saws, jig saws, I gave up and finally bought a metal cutting shear many years ago. It is a 30" wide, Chinese made, 330 pound monster. I paid $300 for it. Worked okay on smaller boards but wasn't made well and the blades are not very sharp. 2 years ago I bought one of these for work, and love it and now use it for PCB's. It's much lighter (25 pounds), portable, cuts very well, accurate. Blades are very sharp, it is surprising rigid and controllable. Darn, the www.mcmastercarr.com website is not working right now. Item # is 86745T42 and the pricing back then was just under $400. Kepco used to sell a PCB shear which I attempted to buy used. It too was quite lightweight, but I think the price back then was very high (~$600). Dave > What are the options for me to cut PCBs at a 'professional' way? What is > the propper name for such a tool? (pcb cutter? shearer? guillotine?) > what does such a tool cost (I hope for someting in the $ 100 .. 500 > range?)?
