I live in Tucson AZ, where the humidity is always low all year around. Its imperative that cotton clothes be worn, and when they are being washed, that anti-static dryer sheets are used to reduce routine static. In houses here, all carpeting contains conductive fibers interwoven into the pattern to stop static. A good alternative is to spray the carpet around your working area with liquid "Cling-Free" or similar chemicals.
