Hehe, reminds me of a conversation I had with a French teacher once. I asked her: how do you tell whether a word is feminine or masculine. Simple question? She answered with a few "rules" to follow. Then I came up with a motherload of examples that violated those rules. After more discussion she just admitted that there weren't really any rules and that you just had to memorize it!??!? That's one thing I REALLY LOVE about English, no messy masculine, feminine crap, everything is neuter.
