Baud rate is 1200 (or if I can get it that far with only parity and a reasonably low error ratio) 2400 bps at most. There's 7 actual data bits needed, UART transmits 8 of course; 9-bi transmission can also be used. The stream is actually data from a PC parallel port to a printer (7-bit ASCII). Speaking of which, is SPP printer communication limited to using 7-bits, or do higher level "languages" such as PCL or PostScript use non-ASCII characters (8-bit)?
