Hi.

The __CONFIG symbol is set in the assembler source code

The "config bits" are then transfered to the HEX file by
the assembler and lastly from the HEX file the the PIC by
the programmer tools.

What, more specificly, is the problem ?
What development tool(s) are you using ?

The PIC *itself* doesn not know anything about something
called "__CONFIG"...
