Its designed for Vauxhall / Opel cars. In particular the Corsa / Astra with the multifunction display (weird and wonderful protocol). If you're after somethine more generic then you'll have to wait until next year when I'll be porting the code over to another type of unit that will drive a standard 4x20 LCD Display.
