The electronics, software, etc itself becomes less challenging in itself, but the fun part is that every application is different. If you enjoy the "boy's own annual" sort of stuff, it's great. Today I'm working on an automatic gearbox shifter, yesterday it was a fertilizer spreading system. I know more about the issues involved in growing grass, air conditioning open plan offices, killing dust mites, measuring milk production and packaging snack foods than I ever thought could be known. I am a wealth of useless information. A reasonable analogy would be to ask if driving gets old. As long as you are driving to new places and challenges, it never gets old.
