Can't think of any specific reasons off hand, that would depend on your circuit, but general reasons may be cost (4 470's might be cheaper then one 2200), availability (2200s might not be as common and easy to get in some areas of the world then 470s), reducing ESR, increasing redundancy (electrolytic caps are usually the first thing to go in a circuit, having 4 smaller caps might increase the chances of seeing recognizable symptoms before bad things happen). I'm sure there might be other reasons, but nothing really big in my mind.
