The PICKit1 only supports the 8 and 14 pin flash devices, making it pretty limitted. In theory, ICSP is ICSP, and a couple jumper wires from the PICKit1 to another socket ought to allow you to program other PICS, given appropriate software. I haven't looked at the PICKit1 software source yet to see whether the software that needs changed is in the 16C745 or in the PC (if it's in the PC, the linux version of code is probably a fine starting point.
