In Sweden, when shipping internationaly, a "letter" (with "letter" postages) is *anything* where the sum of lenght+high+depth is equal or below 0.9 m and none of them are higher them 0.6 m and the weight is below 2 Kg. Anything over 2 Kg is a "parcel". The large "letters" has to be left in the post office, not in the letterbox, of course, but there is no additional cost. Now, exactly *how* these "letters" are delivered at the destination isn't my problem :-) A parcel can be up to 20Kg and must have a lenght below 1.2 m. Slightly different (but very similar) rules for domestic letters and parcels. Shipping internationaly is just a matter of writing a different address and putting on higher valued stamps (and, if outside of the EU, the small green customs label)...
