I'm using UltraEdit (UE) as a "IDE" using MPASM and MPLINK directly from the UE toolbar. Or, more specificaly, I'm calling a MAKE script that calles first Olins preprocessing tools, then MPASM and MPLINK. I'd expect that you could just as well edit C18 source in UltraEdit and just modify the MAKE script a little to call the C18 compiler and MPLINK to built the HEX file. UE is a far better editor with a lot of nice functions and tools. Sheck it out. Note, it's not free. Anyway, works for me... Hi everyone, Is there any IDE out there that can be configured to do the same or better job than the MPLAB 6.X IDE? Don't get me wrong, MPLAB 6.X is great (cuz it's free), but I have a feeling that there is an alternative IDE out there... I am using Microchip C18 to write codes for the PIC18F8720.
