Don't forget about FRAM from www.ramtron.com Granted they have their quirks, but basically it's a drop in replacement for serial EEPROMs, but they have much faster write speeds and greater write endurance. (quirks include the fact that internally reads are destructive - internally it is rewritten after a read - so read endurance = write endurance.
