The programming output from the ICDX to the target is that which is published in the programming documents. The debugging protocol is published in a document available on the Microchip web site, and would be the same for targets which are common to both ICDs. Since the ICD(1) only debugs the 16F87X chips, and the ICD2 works with many more, this doesn't lend itself to comparisons.
