Me too... I just fried two 18F452's today. I messed-up and laid out the PCB with VSS connected to +5v and VDD connected to 0v... DOH!!!. For reference, 18F452's get mildly warm when you wire them backwards, and then go cold (I guess something burns out, fuse style?).
