It depends on the drivers you are using. =BFthe PIC's pins alone?
=BFthe output of a TTL gate? =BFa fast line-driver?

To build a high speed parallel interface, you can use the LVDS
products from National, http://www.national.com/pf/DS/DS92LV18.html
is a 18 bit serializer/Deserializer, really simple to use.
