It doesn't depend on the clock source.  It stops executing instructions
until it is wakened from sleep by a reset, watchdog timeout, suitable
interrupt etc, same as the newer PICs.  I don't know if it was different
for some of the older PICs, I've never had the need to use 16c5x etc :-)
