>I won't even start on the number of times I've gained skin burns from the >soldering iron. My first ever lesson in lab/desk safety came in high school, when I stuck the handle end of a soldering iron in my mouth and reached to the left with my right hand. When I could find what I was looking for, I turned my head to look over and stuck the iron into the back of my left hand. I naturally opened my mouth to, ah, loudly express my displeasure with the situation, which sent the iron tumbling into my lap. Lesson learned.
