Hello Mike, I used the PICALL programmer to program a PIC16LF877A without any problems, the standard programming voltage for all PIC uCs are 13V as its described their datasheets. The "LF" means that the PIC works with voltages down to 2V (when the PIC is working), also, the LFs have 10MHz maximum frequency according to the datasheet. There are some programmer that are LVP (low voltage programming) such as the trivial lvp programmer found on the internet, that means that the programming voltage (Vpp) is only 5V.
