But can it do any _harm_? I haven't looked at MPLAB recently, but last time I used it, it didn't do anything particularly special which would have taken a trade secret to implement. From comments here, it does seem more buggy than the open source alternatives, and I'm sure it's hard for microchip to justify spending lots of programmer-hours to fix it when it doesn't directly generate revenue.
