> Just wondering: what do you find wrong with editing in MPLAB? > Once I got >the colours right (the Borland classic colour scheme) editing under MPLAB is >easy. TTYL I use Ultraedit and I am happy with it. MPLAB is more like Notepad, not a real tool. Some features MPLAB don't have: - possibility to edit keybindings - a function list (showing all the functions or, in case of assembler, all labels... click and you're there) - "search files", where you can search multiple files and get a list of occurrances... - search and replace in files - decent regular expressions in searches - macros - definable wordlist (for colours). Very powerful tool. - (){}[] counting, real auto indent, bookmarks, "back" like in IE (takes you back to where you last edited) - and everything is fully configurable When MPLAB has these features, I might work with it... before that they just should build a similar functionality as in ICCAVR IDE... where you click an error message, it takes you to your favorite editor and brings up the right line in right file. I am not saying that UltraEdit is the best editor, it just works for me because I do a lot of coding over the FTP and it can open/save files over FTP. Some other good editor might work for you people. - Kari -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
