Pin 2 +, pin 3 -, pin 1 shield on the XLR connector. Output is balanced, low impedance. Your sound card has two pins, unbalanced, high impedance. Depending on your sound card and drivers there should be enough audio level to be sufficient. Tie pin 1 and 3 to the shield or ring of a 1/8 plug obviosly using a single conductor shielded cable. Tie pin 2 to the tip of the 1/8 jack. If there isn't sufficient audio, you may have to use a mic preamp. Remember to go to the record menu to set the levels. When you bring up the playback default menu, go to the options or preferences and check the record option. That "diode" is probably a rf bypass capacitor. Rick C.
