I've had reasonable luck using a wire, bent on the back, held in place with a clip, then sheared off with a nipper (diagonal cutter, dike, diagonal plier, whatever it is where you live). If you do it carefully, you can get a VERY flat via. Note that the cut is made before solder is applied to either side. Good luck!
