I've been looking at the same thing recently. The Micronas decoder is definitely well represented and I doubt you'll have trouble finding answers to any problems online. I found out about another chip, the VS1001, which incorporates the mp3 decoder and DAC into one chip as well as a headphone amplifier and space for user code so you can customize it however you want. You can get information about it through the VLSI website ( http://www.vlsi.fi/ ) and can order samples for $25. This chip is used in the YAMPP player ( http://www.myplace.nu/mp3/index2.htm ). -Tony david@AUDIOVISUALDEVICES.COM.AU writes: > I've been meaning to do an MP3/IDE project for a while now. > Is the Micronas MAS3507 still the popular decoder choice > or has something better/easier/cheaper come along since > then? > David... -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
