Seems like a do-able idea. I have seen a DMX dongle that is built into
the backshell of an XLR connector. Might have been ECRUE, but I don't
remember for sure. If it's possible to use this chip in that way, seems
like this might be an example. If you get something working, I'd love to
see it!
