It's not cheap, but NetOp will allow access like this.
I used to use it for supporting clients remotely.  You
can get control of the screen/keyboard/mouse and also
start up a file-transfer facility.

It's cross-platform, too!

On the other hand there's Virtual Private Network (VPN -
a technology, not a product) but you generally need
hardware that supports it to use that.
