You can use the Opera browser which will let you do this (set User mode as
opposed to Author) and additionally lets you magnify the screen like
acroreader lets you (100-150-180 etc %). I am definitely going to buy this
browser soon. It is ad-powered and a free download until you register and
pay. Runs on Linux, Mac(?), and Windows.  I use it on Linux. It is
improving all the time, it may already be doing all I need.
