As the final step, I played it safe by using the Ontrack utility = downloaded from Samsung site to repartition and reformat the 40GB hard disk and installed the OS. The utility uses what is called 'Dynamic Drive = Overlay' to translate the drive geometry so that the full capacity of the disk can = be utilized even if the BIOS cannot recognize it.
