I ended up buying a copy of Paint Shop Pro. I think it is more intuitive than photoshop or Corel Draw. Not cheap, but I got frustrated with all the free stuff. I also have a graphics converter called Graphic Workshop, shareware, converts almost any image format to almost any other and can stretch, shrink, or slideshow pretty efficiently. Where do people get images? I usually try google image search, a woefully inadequate engine that searches for the text title of the image. Plopping a cartoon on a memo to the church youth group requires a half hour of frustrating searching. Corel used to come with a bunch of clipart, a good start (and no copyright restrictions). Net search for "Clipart" yields either expensive pay sites or inadequate collections of 3 or 4 butterflies. Oh yeah, this is pic related because I need an image for a page entitled "CCS vs. Hitech C: The Low-Down" comparing incompatible features of the 2 compilers. -- Lawrence Lile Amaury Jacquot Sent by: pic microcontroller discussion list 10/03/2003 04:29 AM Please respond to pic microcontroller discussion list To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU cc: Subject: Re: [OT:] Freeware image editing software Robert Ussery wrote: > I know this is pretty far OT, but I know many of you have experience with graphic design. I'm looking around for some freeware image editing software. I don't mean like Irfanview, either, but more like Photoshop. I need masking, layers, effects, etc. I'm currently using Serif Photoplus 5.5, but it's a pretty old product with a lot of limitations. Any ideas? I like sprinkling my displays and reports with gratuitous artwork, and Jinx's (I think it was Jinx) post a while back on www.w1k.com got me going on an image editing frenzy. > Thanks for your help! > > - Robert > > BTW, cheap works, also... although I'd prefer free :O) > > -- > http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList > mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu > well, there's...
