With only 15 turns on the primary and a 70 percent duty cycle, the problem
might be lack of impedance and it could be a power supply droop because the
transformer looks alot like a short circuit. This could exacerbate the
minor electrostatic coupling that exists when the meter is attached.

Keep smiling, it could always be worse.
