If you know who made the cells, you can check the mfgr's sheet for max temp.
That varies quite a lot. Panasonic goes as high as 140F, some as low as 104F.
Calibrated Thumb isn't the way to go here.   I also use an IR thermometer,
and/or thermocouple.
