Other than for interest, why does this matter?  If his *bios* can't see
the drive, then there is nothing he can do at the operating system level
to fix this, at least not if he wants to boot off that drive.

It might be possible to install this as a second drive and boot off a
smaller drive the bios can see.  In that case drivers loaded with the
operating system can help, but this requires at least two disks in the
system, which is not what the original question was about.
