I highly doubt it - I've never come across a single RS232 port that doesn't
work fine with 5V levels
(many thousand products in the field).
Has anyone ...?

I have been playing with my BasicX for 2 years now. Connected directly to my
PC serial port, I must have programmed it 500 times, and used its serial
port for 20 hours, and never had a single glitch that I can remember.
