I'd have thought that went without mentioning, but since you mentioned it... ;o) A couple years ago I worked on a car where the relay for the door locks failed shut. After I found and replaced the relay the locks still wouldn't work. After some examination I found the lock motors had been seriously overheated and melted parts of the housing and geartrain. So the moral of the story is that the lock hardware isn't made to take 100% duty cycle.
