I was short sighted before the incident and I wera contact lenses so I have my eyes tested twice a year and there has been no change in the last 12 years or so. I was MIG welding, trying to tack some bits of metal together and didn't have enough hands to hold everything so I was using a "point and squirt" technique, shutting my eyes (obviously too late) while actualy welding. My eye lids were quite sunburnt as well.
