I was at a party a number of years ago, where one room had a "black light" fluorescent tube in it, and after about half an hour I had symptoms of "arc eye" - an irritated, sandy feeling in the eyes. It was gone by the next day, but it was definately a Bad Thing! It probably depends on the level of ambient light, because this room was particularly dark my pupils would have been wide open, increasing the admittance of the UV compared with a normally lit room with the same UV level. I don't know if I'm particularly sensitive to UV but I wouldn't recommend anyone exposes themselves to it unnecessarily, even if it's common in discos and such.
