Howdy,

I've got a 16F628 controlling some lights, receiving brightness values
via MIDI.  For complicated reasons, I'd like to have another 16F628
send the brightness control data sometimes. Since I have the MIDI
receive code already debugged and working, is there any reason I can't
simply connect the USART TX pin of one PIC to the RX pin of the other
and send 3 byte messages "pretending" to be MIDI?
