> Q: Can a "line" in an ASM file span multiple "lines" > in the ASM file ? You are supposed to be able to continue a line by putting "\" in the last character. However, I remember playing with it years ago and deciding it wasn't really useful. If I remember right, the problem is that the assembler is not smart enough to allow a separate end of line comment for each source line of the continued line, defeating the main purpose of wanting to do it. > I'd rather split the lines in a "tidy" way then having > them beeing split at random in the printouts. I sortof remember you can set the maximum line length in a listing file, and control whether it truncates or wraps to the next line. On the other hand, I find very little use for listing files. The only time I look in a listing file is to find the exact location of an error when macros confused the line count, or to debug assembly time computations. You don't mean real genuine "printouts" do you (black crud smeared on smushed up dead trees)? Is this for a museum? ***************************************************************** Embed Inc, embedded system specialists in Littleton Massachusetts (978) 742-9014, http://www.embedinc.com -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
