FYI for anyone following this discussion: a constant average amplitude
(which is the issue here, at least in my idea) encoding will also
greatly benefit IR transmission that is received by a standard packaged
IR receiver (TSOP, Sharp, Waytronics, etc). The reason is the same as
for radio transmission: an AVR circuit can not work wel if the (average)
amplitude varies a lot.
