When you figured the final price of your order, you added all of the ND prices and called that P1. You then added all of the non-ND prices and called that P2. The final price was (P1 + discount * P2), where discount depended on P2. If P2 < $100, discount = 0, if between $100 and $250, discount = 10%, if between $250 and $500, discount = 15%, etc. As time went by, the ND suffix appeared on more and more parts, until the discount vanished. You can tell this by looking at the order form in the catalog. The formula for computing the discount is no longer there. I remember when the formula was still there, but I could find only *one* item with -ND in the whole catalog.
