Thanks for the info Herbert.. immediately after I sent my first message, I ordered the factory service manual from ebay, so that should hopefully be worth something (considering that the shipping will cost as much as the book!). Will it explain the protocol though? It doesn't seem likely that they would make it that readily available. Anyway, I have also seen that word you mentioned, OBDII, floating around a lot, so I will do some more research on that. If anyone knows any good resources off hand, please let me know!
