Hi Jim,
             Depending on the manufacturer/grade/type  the gate trigger
current will vary so you could try a 47k pot in series with the gate and adjust for
reliable trigger{10k?} (For the 2N5060/1 You will need approx 0.8V-1.2V at
the gate assuming cathode is at 0Volts with respect to the trigger voltage to
reliably trigger the SCR)


Ideally consult the manufacturers data sheet for full specs! (anti flame
line!)
