Fiber Optic glass are rated at wave lengths. You need to match the optics to the LED. If you are less than 3 miles you won't need a Laser LED Diode. Every connection you make on the glass you will lose apx .5db of signal. If you are just playing around with than use what you have, who knows it just might work. Good Luck!!!
