I remember vaguely testing with the 405x chip to switch VGA video signals
before going the Maxim way, I think that was because of cross-talk -  at
that time the other option was to clamp down the non-selected channel in
additional of piping the active channel through.

But it could have been the chips, or could have been the prototyping (I did
not have access to piclist's wisdom then).  You have to look carefully when
testing, and I think it is more obvious if the off-channel is a static page.
