hey, the yampp looks really interresting, especially as it supports usb. also for the yampp, the kit price is $150, like for the pjrc, and there is no lcd included too. so i wonder, why they can sell a completely assembled module (incl lcd) for $85 at kitstream. btw: all these players need a 12v power supply for using 3.5" harddisks. i think it's not such a good idea to connect directly the car battery. i think it would be best to use rechargeable batteries (about 6 cells) which are loaded from the car's power supply, and then generate the 5v and 12v supply from these cells. this would also avoid interrupts when starting the engine. does anyone have a design for a 12v step-up converter accepting input voltage of 6-9volts? thanx! tino Picdude Gesendet von: pic microcontroller discussion list 02.09.2003 08:24 Bitte antworten an pic microcontroller discussion list An: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Kopie: Thema: Re: [EE:] pic based mp3 player Haven't really followed this thread, so not sure if this was mentioned already, but there's another option at: www.yampp.com I went with a custom PC system, which fit nicely in a 7"x10"x2" enclosure, including PSU (custom DC-DC converter), hard-drive, motherboard, and FM radio. I chose this route cause it's easy to add a few things later such as networking for data transfer, and a USB CD-ROM drive. Cheers, -Neil.
