are there any mp3 decoder chips in dil or plcc packages, or are they all tqfp? Don't know if anyone's done any software mp3 decoding with an embedded processor; it's generally a PC or mp3 decoder chip. > > -Tony > > > > > is there any pic based mp3 player project out there? > > (harddisk as data memory, ethernet i/f) > > tino > > -- > http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList > mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu > Software MP3 decoding is tricky. First you have to write an algorithm for decoding, and then you need a processor with at least 20 MIPS for MP3 decoding only. No question, it's better to buy one of those cheap and easy to use decoder chips (as I'm currently doing in my MP3 project)! -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
