There is a Sony problem, I do not exactly know why but the batteries get
mixed up.  Sometimes they come back to their senses, sometimes they forget
again.  I have 5 batteries and at least 4 of them do this, some to the
point they are useless.  Google for: "Sony DSC-P1 Battery Issue".

Or if you do not have DSC-P1 maybe it sometimes happens on other batteries
too.
