Do any of the common serial communication handshaking schemes involve =
just the transmit and receive lines?

I would like to get my two devices working "in harmony" and take turns =
transmitting.

I would like to be able to use standard terminals and terminal emulators =
so I would like to stick to a standard format if one exists.
