Hi Peter, Many thanks for your interest, the formula is Ok, SWR measures the standing wave ratio between the Forward RF Power ( from the radio to the antenna ) and the Reverse RF Power ( from the antenna to the radio ) over a line feed between a transmitter and the antenna in a radio station. When the SWR -> to infinite ( F=R ) it means No ANTENNA is connected to the radio when it is working. This is a particular value for the formula and people who work with radios must take care after switch on and operate the equipment. There are allways looses in any transmission line as coax cables, in that way the Reflected Power is present ( REF > 0 ), the thing is to tune the antenna to the nearest value of SWR to 1.
