Hi I recently purchased a KitsRus K149 USB/Serial programmer cos I only have USB on the laptop. It is really very good. Few small problems matching the firmware and software versions but other than that not bad for $50 US. Have a look at K149/K150 at www.kitsrus.com. jon --On Friday, August 22, 2003 2:11 PM +0200 Wouter van Ooijen wrote: >> > I have used and would highly recommend the Wisp628 >> >> If you are looking to the future then you should buy a >> Programmer with a USB connection. > > The OP has already bought a Wisp628 kit :) > > I agree that USB is probably the future, but the price of USB-to-serial > converters getting lower all the time so an RS-232- only programmer is > sufficiently 'future-proof' for the forseable future. > > When doing ex-circuit programming USB can have the advantage that no > external power is needed, but for ICSP the USB power is probably no > adequate, so this disadvantage disappears. > > Wouter van Ooijen > > -- ------------------------------------------- > Van Ooijen Technische Informatica: www.voti.nl > consultancy, development, PICmicro products > > -- > http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different > ways.
